Quail Creek Men's Golf Association Rules & Policies |
Quick Navigation:
The Quail Creek Men's Golf Association is an amateur association whose purpose is to promote friendship, fellowship and sportsmanship through regular competition. The QCMGA will conduct competitions for golfers of all skill levels. All events will be played using the rules of golf as established by the USGA.
The QCMGA recommends that you obtain a copy of the USGA Rules of Golf book from the Pro Shop, read it and become familiar with both stroke and match play rules.
The scoring system for all QCMGA events will be spelled out prior to the event. It is the player's responsibility to play according to the USGA rules of golf which also includes insuring that your "fellow competitors" also follow all golf rules to enable a fair and true competition.
The QCMGA has established a standard policy, for all events, that includes "playing the ball as it lies" (sometimes referred to as "Summer Rules"). On occasion, local conditions may make it necessary to modify this policy. If "preferred lies" are going to be used, players will be notified at the event site. The QCMGA has also established, in following the rules of golf: that all scores that count must go to the bottom of the cup.
Tournament Eligibility and Entry
To be eligible to participate in QCMGA events you must be a member of the QCMGA and have a handicap index in the Quail Creek computer system. All participants must be eighteen or older unless approved by the QCMGA or the Quail Creek Pro Staff.
In order to enter a QCMGA event you may either sign up on line or in the Quail Creek Pro Shop. The deadline to enter an event is noon the day prior to the event. Entries received after the deadline may be accepted to fill an event or tournament field at the discretion of the QCMGA or the Pro Shop. If an event is over sold, entries will be accepted based on when they were received.
Starting times will be posted on the Quail Creek web site. You may also call the Pro Shop.
Entry fees will be billed automatically to the members Quail Creek Country Club account.
Refunds
Entry fees will not be refunded unless cancellation is made prior to noon of the closing date. Anyone entering a two day event is deemed to have entered both days of the event and will not be entitled to a refund should they not play the second day.
Carts and Cart Fees
Cart fees are not included as part of the event entry fee. QCMGA members with their own carts may use those carts in all QCMGA events.
Player Responsibilities
Starting Times: All players are to be at their starting tee 5 minutes before their assigned tee time. It is the player's responsibility to check with the started for any last minute instructions about the event.
Any player who arrives more than 5 minutes late for their assigned tee time will be disqualified from the event. A player who arrives after his group has teed off but is able to catch them on the first hole will incur a 2 stroke penalty for undue delay.
Returning the Scorecard: It is the player's or team's responsibility to turn in their scorecard to the official scorer for the event. Once a scorecard is turned in it is considered to be official. Any incorrect scores may result in disqualification of the player or team from the event.
Conduct
Unacceptable behavior at a QCMGA event anywhere, including on the golf course will not be tolerated at any time. This includes unacceptable language and/or gestures that might be directed at any competitor, official, ranger or spectator.
Tie Breaking Policies
Tie Breakers will only be used to determine first place. All other places will split the prize money. In tournaments a sudden death playoff will be used. In all other events we will use a match of cards starting with the number 1 handicap hole until a winner is decided. In the event that cards match all the way through the prize money will be split.
Event Winnings & Pro Shop Credit
QCMGA will make every effort to pay out to winners on the day of the event. In the event that is not possible the winner's winnings will be left with the Pro Shop to be picked up. If the winnings are being paid in Pro Shop credit, that amount will be credited to the winner's account.
Electronic Measuring Devices
The QCMGA and Quail Creek Country Club have adopted a rule to allow players to use devices that measure distance only. The use of devices that gauge or measure other conditions that might affect a player's play are not permitted.
Pace of Play
We will make every effort to start the lowest handicap group off of the hole with empty holes in front of it. We will then back off each group accordingly until all groups have been set up. Other than the first group with empty holes in front of them, all other groups will be deemed to be "out of position" if they have more than two empty holes in front of them. The goal is to keep up with the group in front of you.
Cellular Phones and Beepers
Players are prohibited from using cell phones and beepers on the golf course while participating in any QCMGA event. However, phones may be kept on for emergency only. Failure to comply with this rule may result in disqualification.
Complaints & Protests
Complaints of any nature must be made in writing and sent to:
Quail Creek Men's Golf Association
c/o Quail Creek County Club
13300 Valewood Drive
Naples, Fl 34119
Protests should first be registered with the opponent you are protesting against. In the event of a protest the USGA rules of golf should be followed. When you arrive at the club house you should make your protest to the Quail Creek Pro. There determination will be final.
Tees
The QCMGA has determined that players with a handicap of 18 or under shall play from the Green Tees. Players with a handicap of 19 or over may play from the White tees. The pro shop will handicap the event for all players based on their current Quail Creek Index.
